Privacy Policy

Version from the 14th of June 2026

This Privacy Policy describes how the Spendly application (hereinafter - the Application, we) handles your information. Spendly is a personal expense tracking application designed to keep your financial data on your device. We do not require an account and we do not sell your data. The free version of the Application shows ads; subscribing to Spendly Plus (or a one-time remove-ads purchase) removes them.

1. Data stored on your device

1.1. All of your financial records — expenses, budgets, categories, notes, tags, attached receipt photos, your name and profile settings — are stored locally in a database on your device. This data is not uploaded to our servers and is not accessible to us.

1.2. Backups and CSV exports are created only when you explicitly request them, and the resulting file is handed to the destination you choose (for example, the iOS share sheet). We never receive a copy of your backups.

1.3. Deleting the Application from your device deletes the local database, including all of your financial records. You can also erase all data at any time using "Reset all data" in the Application's settings.

2. Voice input and speech recognition

2.1. When you add an expense by voice, the Application uses your device's built-in speech recognition (provided by the operating system, e.g. Apple's Speech framework) to convert your speech to text. Your audio may be processed by the operating system vendor according to its own privacy terms; the Application itself does not record, store, or transmit your audio.

2.2. To turn the recognized text into a structured expense, the Application offers two parsing modes:

  1. On-device parsing — the text is processed entirely on your device and nothing is transmitted;
  2. Cloud parsing — the recognized text (the transcript of what you said, e.g. «coffee 120 rupees»), together with an anonymous identifier and your currency setting, is sent over an encrypted connection to our server and forwarded to an AI service to extract the amount, merchant and category. Transcripts are used only to produce the parsing result and to enforce usage limits; they are not used to identify you, to build a profile of you, or for advertising.

2.3. You can choose the parsing mode in the Application's settings at any time. If you prefer that no text ever leaves your device, select on-device parsing.

3. Anonymous identifier and purchases

3.1. The Application generates a random, anonymous identifier on your device. It is not derived from your name, email address, phone number, or any other personal information — we never collect those. The identifier is used solely to track your remaining free parsing credits and the status of your subscription.

3.2. Purchases and subscriptions are processed by Apple through the App Store and managed with RevenueCat, a subscription management service. We receive only anonymous purchase information (such as the product purchased and the subscription status) — never your payment details. RevenueCat processes this data according to its own privacy policy.

3.3. Because it is the App Store's responsibility to resolve refund issues, we may share anonymous information about your use of the Application with Apple Inc. in connection with refund requests.

4. Advertising and tracking

4.1. The free version of the Application displays ads served by Google AdMob. AdMob may use a device advertising identifier (such as Apple's IDFA) and information about the ads you see to deliver and measure ads.

4.2. On iOS, before any tracking we ask for your permission through the system App Tracking Transparency prompt. Where required, we also show Google's consent form (UMP) for personalized ads. If you decline, ads still appear but are non-personalized. Subscribing to Spendly Plus or purchasing remove-ads disables ads entirely.

4.3. Google processes this data according to its own privacy policy.

5. Usage data

5.1. To understand how the Application is used and to time upgrade offers, we record anonymous usage counts — such as how many expenses you have logged and how often you use voice or manual entry — together with first-use and last-active dates. These are stored on your device and attached to your anonymous RevenueCat identifier. They contain no expense details, merchant names, or amounts.

6. What we do not collect

7. Data retention and deletion

7.1. Your financial data lives only on your device and is retained until you delete it or remove the Application.

7.2. Server-side records associated with your anonymous identifier (credit balance and subscription status) are retained only as long as needed to provide the service. Transcripts sent for cloud parsing are processed transiently to return the parsing result and are not retained as a history of your purchases or speech.

8. Children's privacy

8.1. The Application is not directed to children under the age of 13 (or the equivalent minimum age in your jurisdiction), and we do not knowingly collect personal information from children.

9. Security

9.1. All communication between the Application and our servers uses encrypted connections (HTTPS/TLS). Your local data is protected by your device's operating system security, including device encryption when enabled.

10. Changes to this Policy

10.1. We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. The current version is posted on this page, and the date of the latest revision is indicated at the top. Continued use of the Application after changes are posted constitutes acceptance of the updated Policy.

11. Contact

11.1. If you have questions about this Privacy Policy or how your data is handled, contact us at medonagy45@gmail.com.
